Club Projects

Currently Altrusa of Charlotte is working with Pinewood Elementary on Seneca Place and the Sibling Houses at Elon Homes contributing with landscaping, clothing closets, Angel Tree donations, and literacy projects.

Last year we decorated and filled duffle bags for Social Services to give to foster children. The bags consisted of personal toiletry items, blankets, books, clothing, school supplies, etc. for the children so they would have something of their own as they were placed in foster care.

Our organization has sponsored and funded many wonderful projects throughout the years. Here are just a few:

• Worked with the Battered Women’s Shelter.
• Financed a room in a medical facility in one of the city’s low-income housing projects.
• Worked with the Big Sister Program – to help high school students who had financial needs – from providing lunch money to prom dresses.
• Sent clothing and school supplies for children at a Navajo reservation out West.
• Funded international projects that provided saplings for a dwindling forest and goats for a poor village.
• Helped a homeless family through “A Child’s Place” to reestablished themselves by providing furniture, kitchen supplies, clothing for children, Christmas gifts, school supplies and rent and utilities for several months.
